Prince Laurent Visits

March 23, 2015

It was Saturday, November 21, 2015, when Peter unexpectedly received a phone call from none other than Prince Laurent.

Prince Laurent? How did this happen?

The story goes as follows... On King's Day, Lekker Limburgs has been representing the Limburg province for several years. During that day, there is a moment when the Royal family, together with a delegation of ministers, passes through Parliament. Each Belgian province has a stand there and presents a number of typical regional products.

At this edition, the ever-friendly Prince Laurent received an apricot tart from us. It must have given him ideas because less than a week later he was on the other end of the line... "I can't resist that apricot tart with its lattice." he told us. He wanted to come to Hasselt with his wife and children to learn how to make that same Limburg tart.

"With great pleasure, Monseigneur!" It doesn't happen every day that you can receive a Prince, so Peter immediately sprang into action. A few months and many phone calls later, the visit of the Prince and his family was approaching...

The actual visit

To let everything run smoothly, the rendezvous started at Lekker Limburgs, away from the press. In his black Peugeot, equipped with GPS, he drove to Kuringersteenweg 161. After some snacks, drinks, and a short tour, it was soon time to continue the trip. Together we headed to Bakery Verboven, in the center of Hasselt, where owner Peter Verboven would give them the necessary baking lesson.
